Cada niño puede aprender música. Mi trabajo es hacer que ese encuentro sea memorable. Every child can learn music. My work is to make that encounter memorable.
Soy maestra de piano. Antes de Miami fue Paraguay, antes de Paraguay fue Santa Clara, en Cuba, donde aprendí que la música no se enseña: se comparte.
Me formé como Licenciada en Educación Musical con especialidad en piano en el Instituto Superior de Pedagogía Félix Varela. Más tarde, en Asunción y en Caaguazú, fui sumando lo que cada lugar me regaló: la filosofía Suzuki, la pedagogía Kodály, la estimulación temprana.
Hoy doy clases en Vivace Arts Conservatory, en Miami. Trabajo con niños desde sus primeros pasos en la música hasta los diez u once años, en español y en inglés. Algunos de mis alumnos han recibido premios y menciones en concursos, pero lo que más me importa es lo otro: que vuelvan cada semana con ganas, que el piano sea para ellos un lugar amable.
I am a piano teacher. Before Miami there was Paraguay; before Paraguay, Santa Clara, in Cuba, where I learned that music isn't taught: it is shared.
I trained as a Bachelor in Music Education with a piano specialty at the Félix Varela Higher Institute of Pedagogy. Later, in Asunción and in Caaguazú, I kept adding what each place offered me: the Suzuki philosophy, Kodály pedagogy, early stimulation.
Today I teach at Vivace Arts Conservatory, in Miami. I work with children from their very first steps in music up to ten or eleven years old, in Spanish and in English. Some of my students have received awards and honors in competitions, but what matters most to me is the other thing: that they come back each week eager to play, that the piano feels like a kind place.
